What do you do with your life?

do you like it???? what's it like???? tell me about it. what do you want to be doing with your life?

Well I'm in my 2nd year (of four) at university studying linguistics. I have no idea what I want to do with my degree, or if I will actually do anything with it when I'm done.

What's it like? Really interesting. Before I started doing it, I had some idea in my head of what it involved, which mainly centred around grammar-related stuff, so clearly had no idea of how wide its scope actually is - far beyond what I knew of it.

Besides that, I don't work during term time so I am/will be perpetually broke and living off a pretty meagre student loan while studying. I have to live at home to keep the cost of living down, which is pretty frustrating since I lived away from home before, and also because the commute to uni is a pain in the nuts.

I do work full-time during summer though, in my old profession (accountancy) and I enjoy that a lot more when it is only for a two or three months at a time, and there is an end to it in sight. It's not that I hated the job itself when it was my "career", far from it, but certainly I hated the often-unfeasible targets and the near-constant feeling of being a failure for rarely meeting them. Things like... they budget the number of hours required for a job every year - one year it might take 35 hours of one person's time to do it, but then they'd hand you the budget for the next year where, alongside last year's actual time, the target time shown for you is something absurd like 20 hours. That is just impossible, and completely demotivating. Even if you do a tremendous job, and take the necessary (in reality) amount of time over it, you're still going to feel that it wasn't good enough. Those little numbers on the budget really fucked with me. Hence why I'm at uni now.

So that's it. This post turned out longer than I mean it to but you did ask!

i've done NOTHING for almost 2 years. sleep a lot, that's all.

i've got some interview to get on a training scheme to become a dog groomer on thursday, but i'm not holding my breath.

I do school and work. at a minimum wage job. I really like both so far. except I'm broke. absolutely BROKE.

I don't know what I'm going to do in the future either.

I do work and school...... right now I am studying to get into a degree of forensic science.. and working as a curatorial assistant for a government archive.

I did the college thing.
Did a pretty decent general computing course that turned into a programming course.
Programming and computer hardware was excellent,
Maths I'd covered before so I didn't care.
Accounting was blehhh.
The other bits of the course were basically management stuffs and technical writing.
Most boring shit on the planet. I kid you not.
Overall though, I found it terribly boring and unfulfilling.

So, maybe doing computery stuffs in college was a mistake?
But you'd assume I'd learn.
But ohhhh no.

I now do computery stuffs for a living too.
Same mix of hardware and operating systems and programming as in college actually.
Its varied enough that I don't get too bored.
But again.
Blehh.
Mostly I'm just fixing other people's mistakes.

So. Apart from that shit.

I do nothing

Every now and then, friends will drag me some place,
but its becoming less and less frequent.

I think I went to 20 places/events this year. Maybe less.

So what am I doing?

Nothing really.

Existing

And not earning enough monies to do anything much of anything.

In my ideal world. I guess, I'd do a mix of what I do already,
but for fun, and travel a bit.

Even the MSNing that I used to do lots of, I now no longer do very much of.

I suppose I should do more stuff? Involving people maybe?

I don't have money to do shit anymore either. it's horribly depressing. someone invited me to go to a show with them last week but I didn't even have money to get there by public transportation.

it's too expensive to go out. so i mainly only socialize with people at school or work. the only good thing is I get all As that way.

I sit and cry about my wasted youth.

I don't talk much with people outside of online, I talk to my parents, I talk to my boyfriend on the phone and various friends.....

I have no life. It's kinda nice, I'm not going to lie. I'm can be lazy, but I know this all is going to come crashing down soon enough.

Oh and sometimes I do school.
