Isn't this the 10-year-anniversary?

if Brooke doesn't want KR, why doesn't she just sell it to us?

we can all own part of it and make sure the bill DOES get paid, since we do care and want to keep it around.

but didn't KR take form on hole.com in 1999?

basically, although the boards in 1999 were a lot different.

i realize that it's frustrating not having brooke around, but at the same time, i don't trust the general KR populace to either run the boards or raise several hundred dollars a month to foot the bill.

i know everyone there hates someone, but i'm sure there's gotta be at least one mutually loved person who can remain neutral and be responsible enough to run the board. neverfuckingmind, i forgot which board i'm on.

do our subs alone not pay the bill? you'd think not since they last 6 months at the shortest..

but still, there's got to be a way to earn money for it. can't we sell stuff and raise interest for the site? i know there used to be KR merchandise. also, i know there's something in the music section where people put together a mixtape? is that where all the artists put it together? why not SELL digital copies of the album?

i'm sure if money is the issue there's enough of us to think of a good amount of ways to raise money.

the subs do not cover the cost of maintaining KR.

we have tried to do KR tribute compilations with all of the KR musicians, but it never works. people get excited and then never submit anything.

we may be able to raise some money - we certainly could in 2004 - but the KR climate is much different now than it was then. we've have a significant drop in the number of users, and i'm not sure that we could realistically foot the bill.

this sucks.

When I looked into starting a board I looked at vBulletin which is what KR uses and they charge 180$ for the first year and then 60$ a year after that. It's the technical support that is expensive (300$ a year) and I have a feeling that Brooke wasn't using that since the board crapped out.

I don't know all the costs of running a board yet since this site lets you create a free forum unless you want a dot com and some other fancy stuff that I wouldn't even know how to use but it doesn't seem that expensive yet.

We could get 18 people to contribute 10 bucks each easily. As for running a board, as much as KR is known for it's bitch-fights I think if the power was divvied up we could handle things. I mean it's only been 2 days here and besides my technical difficulties we're doing alright, right???

yeah but there arent that many regular posters, so is the traffic ust all from unregistered lurkers?

there are lots of crazies about after all.

But any time I check, which is not really often really,
there are usually 5-20 registered members online,
and 20-150 unregistered ones.

I want to submit something! Not for money thing but just because I want to. I didn't even know they were supposed to be sold to raise $$.

I never considered that. Also, if something does happen, is there any kind of backup for this board?

I doubt theres backup, as evidenced by the first big crash (which still smarts).

I suggest someone should keep a mailing list with everyone's e-mails, in case something happens, everyone will be able to migrate somewhere else, like real gypsies
