Celebrity Gossip That You Know Personally

That was my favorite thread. All gone.

This isn't gossip per se but I was at JFK Library to see a forum and Matt Damon was there. He's witty and smart. And really attractive in person too.

One of my co-workers has lived in the same neighborhood as Kim Deal for years. He's usually extremely easy-going, but if you mention her name, he practically rolls his eyes back into his head. It seems that Kim is none too bright and likes to park her car in the middle of the street (with the cars doors open, as well) whenever she spots any of her friends out and about. Also, according to a cop I know, when Kim's addiction was at its worst, she locked herself away in a tiny room in her house and left the air condition on so high the whole house was freezing. He and other cops had to bust into the house and get her out of there.

Another friend of mine, who is in her early 50s now, was extremely active in the local punk scene in the '70s, so she got to know plenty of the famous bands that came through the area. It's interesting really, as she's very nonchalant about it all and you really have to twist her arm for information. According to her, Joey Ramone was absolutely the nicest Ramone, but he wasn't particularly articulate. Talking to Dee Dee was like pulling teeth and he pretty much braindead. Joe Strummer pushed her into a wall as she was in his way when he was getting of stage. Paul Simonon told her to throw an orange to him and though she complied, she did say, "Next time say please, jackass."
She avoided Iggy Pop and Lou Reed whenever they came through as they were still dealing with their drug habits at the time, and she didn't want to be anywhere near any of it. Nico seemed to have her share of issues, too. The weather was bad when she and Lou were to perform at the club that night, but they were able to make it. She just put her hand on Nico's shoulder and thanked her for being able to make it, and Nico threw a tantrum. It was no big deal to her, as she said their show consisted of Lou plunking out notes on a keyboard and Nico "singing monotone in her man voice."
Blondie were sweethearts, but the audience didn't react too kindly when they had a disco ball lowered down from the ceiling during Heart of Glass.
When PiL performed at the club, Johnny spit on her. She screamed back at him, "Who fucking does that shit? That's disgusting!"
Johnny was taken aback a bit, as I suppose he didn't expect someone to actually speak up against his behavior.

At the time I was badgering her for stories, my (now ex) boyfriend was adamant that Dee Dee was smart just because he wrote a book. All I asked her was, "Dee Dee Ramone was basically retarded, right?"
